Blog #22: NaNoWriMo is Upon US! (almost)

I mean I sure am but I am pretty sure I have written one of these 50,000 word Novels, from  2006 and every year following that including this coming one. So let me delve into the wonderful world of National Novel Writing Month....ie NaNoWriMo, though I know some of my followers are definite participants--as we have talked about this in the past before my blog was an ever present thing in my life.

First things first? Anyone can participate. Old? Young? Big? Small? And most importantly, anywhere in the world. As long as you have access to a computer, you have access to completion of NaNaWriMo.

National Novel Writing Month is a "Seat-of-your-pants"  approach to creative writing. Starting on November 1st participants have 30 days to submit their 50,000 WORD novel. So if you're that person who has been thinking of writing a novel but haven't been able to give yourself that extra push, I highly recommend logging into the site and getting started in T minus three days. Need more info on NaNoWriMo?

I love how much NaNoWriMo brings like-minded people together in the same community as well as across the world. They say it's "No Sleep November" for a reason. But the accomplishment of finishing a novel and winning the challenge is really what keeps me coming back every year. For those of you who might need the extra push? There are also sponsors every year who offer prizes at the end of the 50,000 word climb. So if you join, you'll be able to see what this year has to offer.

According to the website you check out Camp NaNoWriMo in the months of July/April and do the same goal here but it's something newer that I haven't actually been apart of enough to talk about.

So if you think about your novel before the first I think that's allowed, it's been a long while since I've seen guidlines or updated rules or whatever but I feel like that is okay.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        However, plotting of the story/characters/setting etc should all not be worked out til the first. You literally have to put the work in to get that novel knocked out in 30 days. And at 50,000 words that should be something truly simplistic for someone who has been writing for a long while. Maybe a bit more of a challenge for someone who has not--but both are EQUALLY as fun/rewarding. Either way I hope to see some of you on the site this year, I'll drop my name so we can friend each other and have write ins together, because I am always open to those. Who is ready for NO SLEEP NOVEMBER? Hit my dms if you want my site name sooner than the first but as soon as November hits I'll drop it I swear. I love friends on all the social medias, so this is the same thing.                                                                                                                                    What do you think? Gonna write a novel this year?

I am.....Not sure what's going to happen yet...but I'm going to be adding on to a novel I've been writing for years. I know there will be questions but the only thing I will say about said novel is it takes place in the West 20 or so years after a zombie outbreak. Right now I'm still in the fleshing out of characters and back stories for the prologue phase, but let me tell you--I have so many plans for this baby. One day I'll release it, and if not? Well, maybe my husband will do it for me when I die.

For me, writing has always been a way to escape, even for a little while. I know everyone has their own reasons but I had handful of things I was running from as a child (maybe I'll get into that one day) that got me into creative writing and poetry. I no longer write poetry, but that is a personal choice I made after my biggest fan passed away (I MISS YOU GRAMMY!) when I was a young girl. Though writing has always stuck strong with me even as my stresses became less over the years, as a sort of rock--I don't think I'll ever stop doing it. It's a wonderful way to relieve a tremendous amount of stress. As someone who lives every day with Bipolar disorder, I appreciate any coping mechanism that works, and this WORKS.

What are some coping mechanisms you have to help manage your stress? Comment down below or hit up my dms on my various social medias. I know you babes are totally watching. I've been keeping an eye on my notifications and my numbers. I see all of you supportive wonderful people and I love you. Thank you so much. It means a lot to me, to be able to do something when I am able to do so little. If I can make a small difference here, then I've achieved my goals.

Alright guys, I love you. Plenty to do, and so little time, so stay tight! be real! BE YOU!
