Blog Post #39: Snowmaggedon Hath Arriveth

Good evening and morning ladies and gents SNOWMAGEDDON is upon Flagstaff and people are losing their fucking minds. Let me preface this with the fact that for a week the fucking weather man has been warning us that this was going to happen so, I mean I don't understand all the confusion but I suppose any extreme weather conditions tend to throw people so I digress...for two days we were hit with a block of straight snow. Yes, I live in Arizona but we live 9000 feet up in the mountains and this little town shut the fuck down for two days, it was crazy.

As we are planning on moving soon, I have been keeping an eye on the weather conditions, so naturally I wasn't very surprised when it started. We had all of the food we needed, the heat works, and our animals don't need to go outside to be happy. So for two days we watched people freak out from our windows. No one knows how to drive appropriately in this type of weather because most of the idiots here are tourists that do not belong here. Annoying? Absolutely. Most of the car accidents in and around Flagstaff are due to visitors. Not kidding.

That being said, I have lived in extremely cold conditions my entire life. Before I moved to Arizona I lived back East and man were winters there EXTREME. Not just two days of snow, more like an entire week of it, and then rain, and then more snow. But that's not my point. My point is, I never understood quite why people just lose their fucking minds during these types of conditions when they do not really change from year to year. We should be getting used to it people. I mean, I just live through it, and then when its over--its fucking spring and summer again. It's not that hard. Just prepare yourself.

Now that that is out of the way, oh my god is Flagstaff absolutely STUNNING in the snow. We braved some of the storm to get some video of it. And took some beautiful pictures that I can't wait to share. The snow here is a little strange, I can't lie, its powdery and doesn't clump like the snow back East. I don't know anything about weather science, but I am just assuming that has to do with the drier atmosphere here, but i wouldn't ACTUALLY know. So if someone can explain that one, drop a comment below--I would very much appreciate it. The snow was intense, white out snow--where you couldn't see the end of the street, but we had a lot of fun picking my husband up from work and filming it to share.

I have been at sort of a standstill with everything online, because we are scheduled to move--THE BIG MOVE--from Arizona to Colorado March 5th 2019. IT is SO close I can smell it, but that doesn't mean that my stuff isn't all packed. So it's hard to make videos and throw them up. I also haven't been feeling 100% and have to dye my hair so yall have been getting less pictures--I apologize. MORE SOON. I swear, I just need to move and settle and everything will be happening at once. We will be filming/documenting the entire move, so feel free to follow along as we post on our various social medias. My shadowban is still partially in place on Twitter but I use it actively everyday. I use my Instagram less often because I do not have a phone. Soon though, I plan on getting a cell and getting a SNAP and all that good stuff. Looking forward to it. I'm also going to be very active on all my socials all around, this girl is going to work for her money this year. THAT IS THE PLAN. So all across the boards, just keep an eye out in the next weeks. I have SO many plans.

Speaking of plans! I cannot wait to share the footage I get from the AndyBlack show I've already got tickets to at the Gothic Theatre!!!!! My husband, daughter, and I are HUGE Andy Biersack fans so we cannot fucking wait to go. We purchased our tickets, and plan on getting VIP as soon as we are able to. So we'll have footage and documentation of that come APRIL. Another show I CANNOT wait to catch is IAMX at the Bluebird in Denver and I am going to go with a new friend I made a connection with this year, so that makes it even more special to me. I can't fucking wait. THAT is also in APRIL. So that will be a busy month for me.

Again, I want to reiterate that I have BIG plans this year after we move; so keep an eye out for all I have to offer. From Etsy, to SNAP, to a new food blog I'm planning, to Streaming on Twitch, etc. I appreciate all of your support, and I can't wait to share my journey with yall. Sending loving vibes your way, and asking for everyone to send theirs, I'll need them to tide me over for the move.

*HUGS*

See you next week fam!

Binge Umbrella Academy on Netflix (Spoilers Ahoy!)

It's HERE guys Netflix's adaptation of Gerard Way's The Umbrella Academy and boy IS THIS ONE GOOD. Before we go any further I want to take the time to say, that if the title of this particular blog doesn't say it all, there are going to be spoilers ahead. If you do not want them I suggest going away and returning again when you HAVE watched the series. That being said,  I have waited years for this very moment, and last night I binged all ten episodes on Netflix and omfg, I want MORE. I am so all over the place ADD that usually I can't binge a show unless it's a 'edge of your seat' kinda deal...so this was BIG for me. I watched straight through with ALMOST no pauses, hey a girl's gotta potty and eat. I also want to state that THIS PARTICULAR BLOG won't be addressing the comic book, other than the fact that it's an adaptation of the series that Gerard Way penned. This post is strictly for the Netflix series. Okay! Ready for this adventure? Let's do it.

Wow I don't know where to start guys, the first episode (and every episode thereafter) has so much going on, jam packed into one episode that it'll have you clinging to the edge of your seat or chewing
your nails wondering if they are really going in the direction they are going in or if things are going to pan out a different way. The character building in the VERY FIRST EPISODE is so essential to getting you into relating to and/or loving the vibe and personalities of each character--and in the space of an hour I have to say that's very impressive. So I already had a favorite by the time the 55 mins was over, and I mean--I'm sure I'm not the only one that's felt this way.

Let me break it down.

The show begins with a series of 43 spontaneous births around the world; by standards they are not an average pregnancy as the pregnancy, swelling, and birth all take place in an instant in various parts of the planet--but in the very FIRST episode we are seeing the birth of Vanya (I believe) and then the very unorthodox dismissal of said child to an eccentric billionaire (Reginald Hargreeves) who was going around purchasing the children from their parents. She was the seventh.

It is made clear from the get go, that the story is going to take you from the past to the present, and so on...but it starts in the present day--showing the (seven) children, and explaining their lives a bit through a montage of action sequences while a pretty rockin violin rendition of Phantom of the Opera is being played by Number Seven (Vanya) in a dark concert hall. Number one (Luther) is a man/ape hybrid
with super strength--living on the moon doing research for god knows what. The sequence intensifies as we are introduced to a family being held captive by some people threatening to kill them for money in their family safe if they don't give it up--enter, number two (Diego) a knife curving expert who crime fights in leather and has ties to the police force. He saves the family, and the sequence pans to number three (Allison) on the red carpet. As far as we can tell she is celebrity with the gift of a silver tongue, as she can literally with the words "I heard a rumor" make a person do whatever she desires.

Vanya continues her concerto, Luther watches the sun rise, Diego tells the family they're safe, Allison is being marveled on the red carpet, and finally we meet number four (Klaus) a drug loving addict who overdoses right in the first episode and is revived by narco only to laugh out and high five the emt. In this episode, it is made clear that Klaus can communicate with the dead, though we are not aware if his powers go beyond
that just yet. The spotlight is on Vanya and she finishes auditioning for first chair at the opera house only to find that she hasn't made it again, she is number seven. And as far as we know? She is just ordinary, and mostly not included as a special part of the family. She's a huge disappointment who told the family secrets in a tell-all book that sold pretty well--but otherwise she doesn't seem to have any extraordinary skills whatsoever. Number six (Ben) can summon extradimensional monsters to do his bidding, and he is badass, but also deceased. There are some hints to how he died but it's not actually very clear, and especially not so in the first episode--but we do the see the kids in action in a flashback of a bank robbery which was really cool.

Anyway, the entire point of the ten minute introduction seemed to be just a way to get the children back together. They come back to the Umbrella Academy where they all grew up, to reunite in the event of their adopted father's death. Their mother (a cyborg/robot/machine) is unaging and seems to be a little off like her programming is degrading, but the kids don't seem to notice--they're too busy fighting one another and reacquainting after years apart to notice right away. Another character that is introduced as a main supporting character is a talking hyper intelligent chimp butler by the name of Pogo. He's wise but seems to be hiding something from the get go.

It is clear that these kids weren't raised properly by the man that adopted them. Later in the episode Number five (Five) who has been missing since he was thirteen years old, returns through a interdimensional time jump. The same way he apparently got lost when he was younger (he can run through time and space), and he reunites with the others as well. Letting them know that he was a 58 year old man in a 13 year old's body because he had time jumped without the right equation and ended back there to save them. From what? The end of the world.

"I'd probably ended up like an emotionally stunted manchild like the rest, so thanks for that I guess..." -five.

Image result for gif umbrella academy benAt the very end of the first 55 minute episode we are introduced to an organization that is apparently hunting Five--though we don't know why. He kills them all in a doughnut shop, and leaves like nothing happened. After that, is when we are finally introduced to dead Ben, who is apparently alongside of Klaus at all times. Through his best efforts he tries his best to take care of and give advice to his hurting brother, but Klaus tunes him out mostly and does his own thing. Final scene shows number Five running through firey debris on the Earth, searching for the cause of the end of times--and then roll credits.

OMG how intense?!?

All of that boiled over and made me squirm in my seat so I had to watch the next episode....and guys....I am not fucking exaggerating one bit when I say, that it ONLY gets better from there. As we are tossed back and forth on the timeline we get to see various points of the kids upbringing with Reginald as a father. All of them harbor resentment toward the man, who is a lowkey selfless genius (but you don't know why until the end). And ALL of them are living lives that they actually hate but wouldn't admit to hating (except Klaus he will say that shit right to your face).

I wanted to break down that first episode for you, so you could see how much was jam packed into one episode--and tbh there is some stuff I have left out that you should GO WATCH FOR YOURSELVES. I wasn't going to get Netflix this month because I'm perfectly happy with my Shudder subscription, but this series? this made me get Netflix, and if you have it--you should WATCH IT. Ten episodes of a complete action-packed emotional roller-coaster ride. I am emotionally wrecked for the rest of the fucking month. WOW. This show is so well written. SO well written. I could see things coming sometimes, but I didn't expect them to come about the way they did. The characters are ALL relatable and fucking GREAT. Even the VILLAINS. In the second episode the organization that is after Five sends out Chacha and Hazel, to take care of things. They are the funniest most relatable fucking villains I have ever met. I LOVE them. BOTH of them. OMG they are amazing. Please go watch this show. It's worth every fucking second.

Now, if only I can get my hands on that new Peaky season that's supposed to be coming....

Thanks for reading ya'll and keeping me going strong every week. I love you. You are all amazing and if anyone ever says otherwise? punch them in the face with some truth. Tell them not to be jealous because you're so fabulous.

Can't tread on us. ;)

See you next week fam!

Blog Post #37: Life Update & The BIG MOVE.

Hi guys it's that time of the week again where I sit down with my coffee and mull over what it is I want to talk to you about, so here we are. What is it this week? Well, it's not death related or a review....I want to talk about the big move we're going to be making. From Arizona, to Colorado, in just a few weeks.  What has been holding us up is one W2 that was due on the 31 of January and still hasn't gotten to us (we had three we were waiting for, the first two came right away, the last one? We are still waiting on.)

SO, if we can't move right on the first, that would be because the company of SONIC decided that it's above the laws of the government and has withheld our fucking W2 information from us for so long--that we actually had to go to the tax offices with the very last check and use that (but we cannot do that til the 15th of february.) I'd like to formally distribute a big FUCK YOU to the haters at Sonic, because either way we will get our money--but the wait? It was really inconvenient (and likely a personal issue between my husband and his old boss which is MUCHO illegal).

What have I been doing lately to prepare? Everything. I have contacted various places in CO to find a place, making moves to get everything packed, and looking into how HomeSchooling is handled in that particular state. For those of you who are unaware, now I've made you aware, our family homeschools our eight year old child. It's what we're comfortable with, and we feel she truly gets the best out of her educative experience this way. Anyways, some major changes/adjustments I had to make was this: The state of Colorado seems to require a min of 172 days of school at 4 hours a piece. Arizona was a bit more lax with this, but honestly, we were already doing this anyhow. Another thing they seem to do is test the children every few grades, which is really good, but out here we didn't have to do that--so Moosh is a little anxious about this. We have any questions or have to test her? We have to report to the nearest district educational office/school to schedule something/ask.

Another thing that is slightly different is there are more school subjects which seems to be slightly overwhelming, but we've been juggling it the same way high schoolers do. We do math some days and another subject others. It makes it very easy--smooth, and she has adjusted to the new schedule very well.

Currently, we are learning about the Solar System, the continents and oceans, we're reading the Canada Geese Quilt and doing our book report, there is our first big science project coming up soon (on actic foxes and the arctic), shes got equations/money in math, and beginner french. On the side of all of that, she is also learning guitar with her daddy. OH what a time to be alive and learning, right? She's having a lot of fun with some things, and not so much with others, but that is normal right? Course it is. I used to fucking hate math.

On her own time she's been reading a lot more, her comprehension has grown and she has a lot of time using punctuation I've noticed. I also got her a diary to write in, and she loves it, she write in it all the time. She's learning spelling and how to shrink her lettering that way-and we are so close that she chooses to share the content with me on a daily basis. She is such a thinker! I am so proud.

Lots of changes, and not just for her--I have a few coming my way as well, once we are settled of course, my husband will already have a job upon reaching the area. I, however, will not. So after getting some of my personal information back (that I haven't had in years thanks to the D.E.S office losing my birth certificate!), and then pound the pavement for a part time job.

When Raith is working, I'm at home with our daughter, and when I am? He will be. We don't do babysitters, and we don't have close enough family to ask for that type of help. So, that's the plan. I'm going to get a part time job. I'm going to have better health insurance, so I am hoping to FEEL a little better. I can be functional, so I will do what I have to, to make the money so our family can be stable until my internet stuff picks up. If it picks up I don't need a coffee shop to keep us afloat and I'll be able to provide more content that way. So either way, I guess it seems to work out in my favor, huh?

As for the internets...oh man do I have plans. Once I am settled and I can figure out a personal schedule I will plan on getting a food blog out there. It wont be weekly like this one, just sporadic as I make recipes. My gear, or goal towards that will be quick, easy, affordable vegan family meals. I cannot wait. More pictures, as soon as I update my camera equipment, because I am planning on exploring every nook and cranny of my new environment. That will be as soon as possible.

I want to find the nearest trails come this spring, and hike, take video footage--and post more family vlogs. I plan on reopening my etsy shop to make a few extra dollars for my equipment and activities outside the house. I plan on recording footage for more vlogs and fun videos. I am going to update my gaming console and start videos around the same point as everyone else (a little behind as my gaming backlog is vast). I plan on doing a bunch of spooky adventures and filming them as a segment on the channel. I plan on making/meeting new friends and having that as a segment on my channel at their consent. And much much more....Tell me, would you be interested in a mommy/daughter homeschool video segment on my channel? I'm curious if that would be worth it...I also have a few surprises up my sleeves...so keep an eye out!

We are going to document every step of the way; from Arizona to Colorado. This is the first real big move for my husband and daughter. I come from Rhode Island, so I've done this state bounce once before, and it was hard then. I expect it to be a lot of work, but to really pay off. So, if you're into it? Stay tuned and watch everything unfold!

Another personal plan for this year is better insurance, better doctors, and hopefully (at the mercy of the Coloradan practices) better healthcare. Once I get down to the bottom of this digestive thing, that I have found plagues half of the people in my family, the more I can manage my life. I want to live my best life while I'm here, and not have it affect mine and my families lives so much. I want to travel and see the world, but I have to get into a good place first. By next year, I am fully planning to fork over the cash for my boards (health providing) to take them, and move onto my next life adventure. I cannot wait.

Last year was the beginning of the the best years of my life, and I cannot express how thrilled I am to share that with all of you--my handpicked fam. Thank you for your support, and I'll see you again next week! <3 p="">

Blog Post #36: Death Keepsakes

When I was going through the plethora of options again today I was filled with hope and pride. I ran a poll on Twitter asking what ya'll wanted to read about and when it came down to it--ya'll wanted to know more about the death keepsakes and you know what? I don't blame you. There are so many various options that I couldn't possibly keep listing or we would be sitting here reading for days--and well, though I appreciate the sentiment I don't think any of us have that kind of time. So, let's begin...

In all of the funerals/arrangements I've been apart of for school, I have always been the most interested in the variety of options available to people during this trying time. Sometimes, in our time of grieving we forget to ask about things like this and then we truly miss out. It's okay to be brain addled in a time like this--brain fog is absolutely normal for a lot of people. Shame on the funeral home for not providing a thorough GPL (General Price List) with a variety of alternative options, most only provide a simple GPL because they are required to by law--but some very good places also list the good stuff.

First of all, this blog post is about HUMANS ONLY. It goes mostly by state law, but there are many things offered for our Furry babies as well. That will have to be for another post, and mostly--just so we're clear, it is illegal to mix Humans/Animals cremains. That being said, I already have plans for my own fur son and I would be happy to share them with you, he's sixteen years old this year--so I'm pretty sure it's good to have this plan instilled. Now, moving along....

Okay then, firstly I would like to start by talking about what can be done with human cremains (ashes) once you pass. First and foremost I would like to mention reefing. It's a neat little ecofriendly thing someone can do with their ashes, in order to better the underwater ecosystem. According to the website: An Eternal Reef combines a cremation urn, ash scattering, and burial at sea into one meaningful, permanent environmental tribute to life. An Eternal Reef is a designed reef made of environmentally-safe cast concrete.  With the coral reefs dying off and in the poor state that they (and our oceans) are in....this just seems like a really beautiful way to commemorate someone. ESPECIALLY if that someone was a former environmentalist or someone in general who you would think would appreciate the sentiment for their love of the ocean and its creatures.

If you liked that environmentally friendly idea to commemorate the memory of your loved ones with their ashes, then you will love this next one! The Living Urn is a company who makes biodegradable urns for your loved ones ashes to sit. You take the urn and plant it somewhere after inserting the ashes at the bottom of it, and after some care (and years) a tree (of your choice) will spurt, if it is able to in your area so visit the website so you can make sure! If you want they also seem to provide options for indoor growth for your patio (AND YES THEY SERVICE PET CREMAINS!), so be sure to stop by the website and check it out for yourselves. I feel like if I didn't already have something that I wanted done with my ashes in the future, that I would LOVE to do something like this.

Personally, I am not comfortable with going in the ground, or even in a crypt. I want to be baked into a fine powder and my husband knows what to do with it. Do you? It's never too soon to start thinking about it. I know we live in a very strange death shunning society but I like to shed a little light on it. It's going to happen to everyone eventually, so why not put input in on what we want as people? Just because we are dead doesn't mean we stop having rights--or the will wouldn't exist.

Let's talk about a few other things that we can do with human cremains that are fantastic! There are some companies who press ashes into diamonds:

And that's another fantastic approach to mourning a loved one. You can put it in these things and make jewelry, or have specific pieces made. "Mourning Jewelry is an almost forgotten Victorian practice that dates back to the 1860s." Undertaking LA is a beautiful alternative funeral home that presents these types of options and I truly love the Ask A Mortician Blog. I keep up with it actively because I just love how wonderful they are. Promoting death positivity and supplying the masses with information in a world where people try to keep that information from the public to make a quick dollar is inspirational, and I commend them. Honestly, I hope to someday be as exemplary as these fantastic women (And women ARE taking over the industry folks, hate to break it to ya!).

Ashes make wonderful knick-knacks to remember our loved ones, and you can't do something with their teeth or bones (its not taxidermy people) other than grinding them up into finite powder and sticking them in really neat things....but did you know you can also make things with hair ? It's not something hugely practiced anymore, but it is an option and it's a wonderful one imho. They make everything from watch rope, to brooches, to finely woven decadent pendants. But there are also simple tubes that you can preserve the hair in as well (it won't decay), and wear THAT around your neck or wrist. One of the truly beautiful pieces I enjoy are the rings they lay the cremated stones into, they can be very beautiful. Here's some History behind the practice if you're interested. Don't be tricked or duped by the fakes.

Speaking of cool things to press ashes into, have you ever considered being pressed into some Pottery? Or, if you have a rough time with thinking about your loved ones eating off your dead remains (and I can feel that personally, but to each their own right? Zero judgment here! Whatever makes you happy/comfortable! I just want to present ALL the options I'm aware of off the top of my head--which is why so much time and thought when into this blog) then how about Memory Glass ? If you can blow it out in glass, you can mesh those cremains into it--YOU BET. You just have to find the right individual/company to go through, and there are QUITE A FEW. Just, it's what they have to offer that might suit you best, so remember to shop around. Each piece through each individual vendor has their own unique touch and they are absolutely beautiful. I wouldn't mind being blown into stained glass, that sounds terrific and very fitting of my soul and identity. If you can think of it, it's out there. So look. It's just a matter of finding a contractor, like I said, who is compassionate to do what you would like. So if you have something that a place might not offer, reach out. You'd be surprised the people you meet in the death industry--who actually care about the people they're servicing. For some it is merely just an email and payment away, so why not give it a try?

Okay we're getting to the slightly creepier, but insanely fucking cool alternative options you can do with yours (or your loved ones)  cremains. So there is a service that you can ask your morticians for, but they may or may not comply so--this might be something you want to arrange beforehand.  Anyhow, in a society so big on self expression through tattoos and piercings I thought it might be cool to share this. So this National Mortuary called "Save My Ink" will use their honed method for preservation of tattoos and ship them straight to you in a very nice frame for you to admire whenever you're missing your loved one. That is BIG in this society nowadays and I really give it to companies like this that are willing to go the extra mile for a grieving family, to give them closure and some semblance of peace. The catch? They only work with preferred providers so be sure to visit their above linked website to check that out and see if there is one in an area near you!

Okay, now that we have mentioned tattoos I think it's fairly reasonable to say that there ARE tattoo parlors who can actually put human cremains into your tattoo ink. Isn't that fantastic??? Who can do this? ANYONE. It merely requires a simple bit of mixing some of the cremains into the tattoo ink and tattooing as normal. Apparently, that tattoo art, vibrancy, and color are unaffected by the added cremains. And YES, before you ask this is COMPLETELY legal. Check it out !!!

Got a little off track there for a second, but we all do that once in a while right? And honestly it was for a good reason, an informative one. So, back on the track of tattoos....did you know that there are tattoos of soundwaves out there?? It's quite possibly even cooler than actually physically commemorating someone with their ashes. It's an APP out there called Sound Motion that allows you to upload any voice file and it turns it into a sound wave. You take that to the tattooist and have them put it on you, and then use the app to scan it at ANY TIME to hear that soundwave. YOU CAN HEAR YOUR SOUNDWAVE. OMG THAT IS SO COOL!!!!!

If that isn't one of the coolest most interesting things in the world, I just don't know what is. That is truly amazing. I wish I had known this years ago when I had access to my grandmother's cremains because man would I have LOVED to take this route in her name. I didn't even get a Thumbie. A thumbie is just a thumbprint of your loved one passed, that is offered by quite a few companies (even for fur baby paw prints and baby footprints!) to help feel like maybe your loved one is a little closer than they are now that they have gone on. Most FUNERAL HOMES can even offer this little guy, so if you're interested in something like that, open up that beautiful mouth of yours and speak up to your funeral directors or loved ones. Put that stuff in your will, and look into it more in depth--but honestly a simple google search will just bring up so many companies....so see what you can do pre-death? It's one less simple strain on the loved ones around you when you pass, and it's a real neat gift to leave behind.

Finally (I know I wrote a lot this week bare with me guys thanks for reading along!), I would like to leave you with these:

If you are a music lover like me, you will WANT to follow everyone of those links and then watch the video I provide link to below. I read all of them, I watched this PLUS SOME, and all I can say is thank goodness for my talented and compassionate brothers and sisters in the UK. There is a UK based company who will take the ashes of your loved ones and press them into a vinyl. You might wonder what would be on that vinyl? Well anything you want. Music, pieces of your voice. noises or sounds of your favorite things or places--WHATEVER YOU WANT. That is beautiful. That is truly something I desire (well, that and if I don't make it to Victoria Falls its up to my hubbers Raith Mourn to get some of my ashes there). Oh wow, I could think of a few songs I would put on there, and this would just be something for my hubbers and my daughter to remember me by, it's perfect. It's beautiful. I'm going to make it happen.

Well, what do you think? Is that enough for this week's blog? Did I teach you something new? If not that's okay too. I just love spreading the information I do have along in hopes that it will truly help someone and be of some use. If it wasn't useful, or I forgot something, I'm sorry. There was a lot of preparation and planning that went into this. I even called a few local mortuaries to have them send me their GPL and lil knickknack lists but they were slow as hell with passing that info along so I had to do a lot of digging from memory and this is what I've got for you. What was your favorite part? Mine is definitely a toss up between the tattoos and the vinyl but I REALLY think the vinyl is the route I'm leaning toward if that's an option financially in the future that my husband can pursue.

That's it! That's all I got for ya! You can stop reading and go home now! But I'll be back next week I love you all thanks for sticking it out. 🖤

Goodnight xx

Music Interview with Metal Band BE//GOTTEN

Life has gotten in the way for everyone and I'm just going to leave it at that because I'm pretty sure no matter where you are in...
