Blog #44: IamX concert @ The Bluebird Theater Colorado

The time has come ladies and gents to tell you of an experience that I have had to literally sit on for a week because it was JUST that intense.

Last Thursday, April 29th, I went to the Bluebird Theater and saw IamX performing live for the first time in my life.

I know, I know....I'm a little late to the draw but to be honest I had loved this man and his poetic soul for a wicked long time. I just haven't always had the means to go to shows and well, you pick and choose. I've never been to a live show like this either. Lights, electronic dance music, and people who don't mosh--but sing along and bob their heads. It was a pretty interesting crowd that showed up and a V E R Y good H O N E S T vibe.

I started the day off pretty shitty actually; if you must know the day prior I had a shard of glass that went pretty deeply into my foot. I was injured so I thought, I may not be able to make it to the show because general admission meant standing room. When I called, the venue told me there were limited bar stools--but that they were first come first serve and to be honest? I didn't want a bar stool I wanted to see the show. The person on the phone at the box office was very accommodating though! When they asked me why I was asking I told them I was injured and didn't think I could stand the whole time, so they told me to inform them upon arrival and that I would get a chair. AWESOME. I hate to be that gal, but hey, my foot? GREATLY appreciates you, random souls that work for Bluebird Theater ! I salute you!

So I'll spare you about my health that day, and just leave it at--I wasn't feeling too hot. So I didn't want to wait outside the venue for very long. My trip would solely be: go to the concert, enjoy the show, take a bus or cab home. That's what I did. About an hour and a half before the show I took four buses to the center of Denver metro and ended up on Colfax about a mile down the road from where the club was at. Snow had started to fall the minute I left my house, but when I had my husband check the weather app, I started to relax. I knew this would be the last time in a while I would get the chance to see IamX live, and so--knowing that my life wasn't in danger, I decided to press on.

When I got off the last bus, I hobbled the short mile to the club, which was MUCH longer than it normally would be. I picked up my tickets at the box office (AFTER a man tried to sell me four scalped tickets for less, right in front of the door even though I was clearly there by myself) at about 8 PM. I went inside, put my belongings through the search process and got scanned. After I bought a sick as fuck shirt at the merch table, which I was delighted to find was barely populated. I brought it and the other things I was given (a small heart they asked us to raise during mile deep hollow and a jelly bracelet) into the room and staff from the venue provided me with a chair and a spot. A GREAT SPOT that I could literally see most of what was going on at. I brought my GoPro because the goal was to catch the fan-fucking-tastic (spoilers) audio of the show for my family who couldn't accompany me and for myself because this was truly an experience and I wanted to be able to feel the same feelings I felt THAT NIGHT when I was ready to blog about it. And I gotta tell you, it worked.

They hit the stage at about 830PM with no opening act, and I was at the bar buying a vodka cranberry because that's my jam when I'm at the club. Why? It's cheap and it does the trick. That's why. After getting to my seat again I hit the play button on my camera and man. My camera was GREAT, but it didn't exactly do it the justice that it deserves. If you can catch this tour, please do, it's worth every second and here's why.

Need more? Let me explain...

Chris Corner, or IamX, is no stranger to the stage or to music in general having started some time in the 90s when I was far younger and still had no idea he was even out there. Sneaker Pimps are pretty legit and laid back, if you haven't heard of them, I DO HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Especially if you want a nice chill vibe to relax to. If you want something a little more alternative and raw, then you will FULLY enjoy Chris's "IamX" project. Man--his lyrics are a trip and seem to bare it all for all to see. They're courageous and the music is bold and followed by the haunting spectral vocals of Chris, Sammidoll, and Janine Gezang combined--one is truly in for a treat for the senses when they step inside this musical world.

The lights were set up and all around the place, honestly I expected there to be lights because most shows have them but these were strobing a lot and a little intense. I did enjoy them when they were settled at a nice neon blue, pink/purple, green, or red--but I found that the bright white or yellow light was a little harsh and could be offensive to some. Not myself, I enjoyed them thoroughly, and I was enjoying my vodka cranberry as well.

They started the setlist off with "Alive in New Light"; Chris greeted us as the music was playing eerily in the background. The lyrics to this one are pretty powerful in general, so I was pretty thrilled to hear this track off his latest album.  Seeing them up this close was pretty neat too, though if I wasn't injured I would have easily gotten closer because the crowd was a relaxed one.

Followed by "Alive in New Light" the women kicked off "No Maker Made Me" . The lighting changed a bit, and watching them rock out and vibe on stage was enough to get you nodding and bobbing to the beat--which I fully was. The lyrics can be found here for that one, off of the album of Metanoia--the 6th studio album he released in about 2015. It was a very sexy song, definitely rated R and littered with raw feeling and curse words.

Honestly I already knew this wasn't a show for the kids/family; if you're a fan of Chris's you know that his shows are NOT all ages for a reason. They are a great time, wonderful eye-candy, good vibes, but the lyrics aren't something someone under sixteen should be listening to. That much is true. That being said, he's still fully rockin', and the lyrics are sexy.

After "No Maker Made Me" they started up a song from my past that I got AUTOMATICALLY nostalgic with. "Bring Me Back A Dog" which is off his 2006 "The Alternative" album release, it's easy to identify from the very first few seconds--and ladies and gents? It sounded like it was ripped right off the record into my ears. Chris's voice was on point and it was SUPER easy to follow along. I hadn't heard the song in years but it was like it was just yesterday--omg memories. I LOVE this album. Check out the lyrics here.

Next up on the setlist, after Chris said we made him happy, was a song called "Happiness" off the album Metanoia. If you listen to the lyrics the song can be truly relatable to someone like me. It's one of my favorites. The band and tour supports positive mental health, and taking care of yourself, and I think that it truly comes from a personal place. You can feel it in the vibes the band throws, in the lyrics, in the flow of the music, and the way the crowd moves as one just for that little bit of time together. This is going to be one that stays with me for a long time, and I'm glad I was able to be a part of it. The band really knows how to get the crowd involved and to keep a show like this active and involved.

The song after "Happiness" is when I became very interested in the images playing behind the band on the screen more. As the musical vibe got more intense and the lights faded to red. You can tell the band really wants the crowd on the same vibe, and I was feeling every second of it. These girls by the way? That sing with Chris? Janine and Sammidoll? Not only are they fine as fuck and rockin out, but their voices? ARE 100% L E G I T. I was feeling it. "I Come With Knives" put me in the zone. You don't come across enough original personalities in this day and age, but there are three on the stage every night of this tour. Join the experience. Here's the lyrics.

After "I Come With Knives" they took it down a notch; the lights got turquoise and dark blue, the girls hummed, ooo'ed and sang backing vocals as Chris took the theater on an emotional roller-coaster with the song "Exit". Off of the latest album, "Exit"'s lyrics are powerful and relatable and sad almost. The music in the background has a spectral sort of sadness with an added punch on the bass line and it is GORGEOUS all together. Sensual even. "Can you feel it?" Chris croons to the crowd as we all cheer and agree, yes. We as a group? We can feel the music, the mood, the rhythm and every other step of the journey Chris--AND WE LOVE IT. Give us more.

Off of the album of "Kingdom  Of Welcome Addiction" a beautiful personal emotional ride from around 2009, "I am Terrified" was extremely beautifully orchestrated for an audience. The lyrics will make you tear up a little, especially if they can hit a little close to home, like they do with myself. You can REALLY hear the emotion in Chris as he belts the final lyrics of the song and he received his much earned standing ovation. Honestly, hearing that song over and over again, it will never get tiring to me. If you haven't heard this album, you should check it out on Spotify.

The song that followed was absolutely beautiful,  but I must admit I'm not truly familiar with the album it was from, so "Sorrow" was new entirely to me. I went home and looked up the lyrics later that night, and then proceeded to listen to the 2013 "The Unified Field" album. HOLY FUCKING CRAP! WHAT have I been missing out on? THIS is a must listen.

When I REALLY feel an artist, I get a little weary because everyone is so overproduced these days, but when credit is due? I will give credit and I was fucking blown away by this band. This man, these ladies, the music--GLORIOUS. RHYTHMIC. SOOTHING. RELATABLE. FANTASTIC.

"North Star"  came after "Sorrow", and I was NOT disappointed. More people were getting into the show at this point, bouncing, stomping in rhythm, and flowing with the music. This songs lyrics can be pretty intense, but the delivery and performance are what I was fully focused on. Chris is a wonderful storyteller already, and he really has a way of just really magnify his persona just by the way he moves his body and delivers each word. WONDERFUL. Truly.

The oldies are the ones the band really put a lot into and it was appreciated guys, really--it was such
an experience that even now--several days later, I don't fully have a grip on the wording I SHOULD be using to describe the experience. EXPLOSIVE. PASSIONATE. BOLD. POETIC. For starters. When "President" started playing I really teared up. Maybe it was the booze, but damn, I love this song. My day instantly went from shit to jackpot and I couldn't be more grateful. It truly is the little things. And I know it goes without saying, but my followers on here know me well enough to know that I have to, Chris's accent is sexy. There. It's out in the open. But I bet you I'm not the only fan of his that thinks it-and that is a bet I would absolutely win. Lyrics.

Another crowd favorite was "Spit It Out"  though it was a more somberesque vibe at the start up. It's another raw song off of "The Alternative" and like I said, you just can't go wrong with that album. I can literally jam to every single song on it. The lyrics to this one though? Are very positive, and the backing music just cannot be beat.

After the band left the stage, I knew an encore was coming--but only because of the hearts from the merchant table. We hadn't heard "Mile Deep Hollow" yet. Not only is this a single off the most recent album, "Alive In New Light", but it was a crowd favorite and obviously very important to many there because this was the first time the whole show that the crowd was singing so loud (in harmony) that it actually drowned Chris out at times. He had started the song out, telling us that this was a song written for the fans, which if you read the lyrics, makes the song THAT more touching and brings the fans THAT much closer. Thank YOU Chris. I am POSITIVE, you have done the same for others.

Another oldie but goodie that released sometime between 2004-2006 was "Kiss + Swallow" which I am truly smitten by. It's a sexual experience, and "Your Joy Is My Low" is off that gem. Chris sounds like he swoons as he delivers the heart felt personal lyrics and I bet half the room was swooning with him, including myself. Excuse me sir, I AM MARRIED! Kidding, but not entirely, I am totally at least half serious here.

When they started playing the really familiar bass line of "The Alternative"  and Chris started singing the sexual lyrics (which I've kinda always figured was about a threesome) the crowd fell into a trance as the lights and music did their jobs. When this song finished? I thought "man I need a cigarette" from all the hype and energy. It was one of the most intimate experience I have ever shared as a member of the crowd, and I really wish my husband was there to share it with me, but I'm glad I got to experience it anyhow. WHAT a HIGH to ride on.

The final song of the night (that I almost missed because I had to pee so fucking bad), was "Mercy"  off of "Kiss + Swallow".  Here are the lyrics  to that one. I grabbed the middle of the song, and got to experience from there to the end, but it was enough. This band is amazing. I was absolutely blown the fuck away, and for that I am SO grateful I got to experience THE MILE DEEP HOLLOW TOUR. If you get a chance to jump the bandwagon in your city, DO IT FOR THE LOVE OF FUCK.

I almost missed the last bus of the night for "Mercy", but there was no fucking way in hell I was leaving before I got to experience the LAST song of the night. I was facing a three hour or more limp home if I did miss it, or a 50$ cab ride. I didn't want to do either to be honest. But after the band wrapped up and the crowd roared with delight, I headed out the doors and to the nearest bus stop with a lot to think about.

There was another four buses home, and the only eventful thing I can say about that was there was two extremely drunk men on the bus. One of which, tried to give me a condom, and then proceeded to laugh his ass off about how he just tried to give me a condom with his equally as drunken buddy. The second, an elderly gentleman, was so intoxicated he almost faceplanted a few times. I, being the introverted creature that I am, tried to avoid eye contact at all, and proceeded to stare at my phone screen. When they didn't get the hint, AFTER the bus driver told him he would remove them if they didn't leave people alone, I moved down and over a few rows. Then they finally got it.

I waited in the extreme cold, in leggings and a leather jacket, because that's what I normally wear, don't judge me fuckface! I traveled in the snow. I sat through a really fucking cool lifetime experience, and I took away some badass memories. All-in-all I would say it was a pretty successful night. What about you?

See yall next time! Stay real, always be you, and be kind. xx

See you next week fam!

Blog #43: Andy Black Concert @ The Gothic Theater Colorado

x
Hey guys! I know it's been a while and I apologize! PROFUSELY. We have been on a mini-hiatus because I haven't had the internet, but I have been working really hard, and have it now, and here I am with some amazing energy and stories to share. I filmed and worked on content the entire time we were on hiatus even though I have a full-time job now. I just have to piece it all together and get it out there for you, but in the meantime--have I got some news to share!!!! My last post briefly touched upon my Andy Black show here in Colorado at the Gothic. But what I didn't share was that we had secured our VIPs as well as tickets to the show, so both my daughter and I both got to meet Andy again, and man we are just blown away every time. I swear.

With the meet and greet we each get a minute of time with Andy as per usual, and because we both had VIP packages we both got pictures. I was scared that I wouldn't get my picture though, because when I called the venue earlier that day they told me my specific type of camera was not permitted at the show and I was nearly in tears. Thankfully a friend of mine, Jim, came through and I was able to get a pretty decent camera from a pawn shop for a pretty reasonable price. And not only did we get our pictures but we got a lifetime experience that neither of us shall both forget. We also got an autographed copy of Andy's new comic The Ghost of Ohio for the package, and this pretty neat laminate.

Prior to the show I checked my mail and found that I got my copy of Andy's cd The Ghost of Ohio but I didn't do an opening video because I was really upset to receive my cd case fully damaged. It is cracked all the way around and that made me a little sad. The cd itself works just fine though, and I've already ripped that thing to my computer and various devices so I can hear it over and over--because you know what? It's really REALLY fucking good. If you haven't heard it yet, I highly recommend.

And this comic? Oh my GLOB!!!! It's amazing in every aspect. The writing, the art, and imagery it's all beautiful. No spoilers, but, you should read the comic too. The story and plot are worth the ride and the characters will make you fall in love. The art is beautiful imho and vibrant and I thoroughly enjoyed it all around. This one is nestled safely next to my other valued things, up on my shelf above my bed. Signed, sealed, delivered, and wonderful. Alright! Enough gushing about the comic, I really just want you to check it out, because it's truly worth it.

Our show was at the Gothic Theater here in Denver on April 17th, 2019; we arrived around five pm and picked up our tickets from will-call then got into two separate lines. Moosh and I were in the VIP line and Raith (my husband) was in the regular line. We had already done this for Black Veil Brides during the Resurrection Tour so we knew the deal. After they scanned us on, and gave us our placards we waited just a little more in line and talked to a few of the avid Andy fans. Some traveling from far distances themselves to have caught the show. Though, admittedly, we just moved and I didn't have to travel very much. My house was only about an hour from the show walking, so we walked.

Sometime after we'd arrived we were let into the building where we waited another length of time for Andy to come out. Moosh was telling me she couldn't wait to give Andy his flower, and I was so excited for her to see him again. That flower was in her hair, and it's her favorite color, the color of her hair. Anyhow, we got to the front of the line and I asked her if she wanted to be a big girl and take a picture with Andy by herself. She said yes, so I held back and gave Andy's body dude, Matt Yanni the camera for the picture and watched. She talked to him for a little bit, and was pleased to find that he remembered her from Arizona which almost honestly made me cry--I was choked up at the sentiment because that really meant a lot to her. She was worried he wouldn't recognize her. Then, he complimented her adorable pink bubble gum hair, and she blushed and got ready for their picture. She gave him the flower for the picture so it came out really cute, and when they were done and she got her hug, she leaned into his cheek and stole her first kiss. That's right ladies and gentleman, my daughter (8 years old) kissed Andy Black and it was the first boy she'd ever kissed that wasn't her daddy. The entire room swooned around her--including myself. It was truly adorable. I think Andy blushed, and I hope he'll remember her for a long time because of it. That took a lot of courage on her part. I am actually proud lmao and I don't care what people think about that.

After that I got my turn, and I got a great hug from Andy who wished me a happy birthday. That made me feel so good. My own family doesn't wish me a happy birthday, and my birthday is a really touchie day for me. So it was wonderful to hear it from one of my favorite people. I felt warm inside. Or maybe that was from the hug? I don't know, I don't let a lot of people touch me. It could be a mixture of both. Either way, I thanked him, and headed out to the merch table with miss Mooshie to buy a really fucking rad shirt and a pin/sticker collection. I've since given the stickers and a pin to my hubbers cos we literally share everything, but they are cute. I'll get a merch pic for you. Andrew donated plasma that day so that we could have extra money to buy stuff at the merchandise table which we don't always get to do. It's nice to support the artists you love, so I bought the tour dated long sleeved shirt, and the pins all the way at the bottom right of the pic for 10$. It wasn't much but to us? It meant the fucking world. I wore the shirt as soon as I got it. It's a fucking small by the way, but it looks like its a small mens. I don't even care though, I've slept in it twice since I bought it. I honestly don't want to take it off, but I don't need anyone questioning my hygiene (or sanity) so I'll stick to a BVB one for today.

After we got merch we headed to the front stage so I could take couple pictures because who doesn't love traditional stage set up pictures?

That was when we figured out Kulick and The Faim would be there as well. We didn't look up the artists because I was afraid of finding a set list and honestly I like being surprised when I go to a show. I had never honestly heard a word of the first band, and I'd heard very little of The Faim thanks to my friend Marine, but I wasn't an avid fan or anything so I wasn't sure how the show would go. Either way, we headed up to the balcony because it seemed some of the girls in the crowd were a little too feisty and I was thinking of my daughter's general safety. Shortly after finding seats, they let the rest of general admission in and my husband found us easily. My daughter waved him down and I showed him how to get to the stairs by pointing, it was likely pretty amusing to watch, if anyone were. When he was with us? I hit the bar, there were WAY too many people so I asked for a strong vodka cranberry and that's what I got. BAM. Temporary anxiety nullification! Oh yeah!

When I got back up to my seat it wasn't long after that the show started and Kulick came out. I didn't recognize any of them, I'd never heard them in my life and when they started playing? I was instantly in love. SUCH energy and SUCH talent. Of the songs they played I think Ghost may have been my favorite, but of the band members? April is my favorite. What a hottie with a body! and damn she is so energetic and into the music. I felt the music because of her and the lead singer who was basically singing in the crowd from the barricade. It was really cool. Did they notice Nayeli? Sure did. Everyone did lol but she was up on the balcony waving away, and dancing. We had a good time. Here's a few pics we managed to grab--but our camera that we were allowed to bring wasnt' that great with motion. Enjoy!

I looked into them on Spotify and they are just as awesome produced as they are live so I fully respect this band. They work hard, they perform hard, and their music is very chill to listen to. Here's their Official Site to check them out but they seem to be a new comer to the general music scene as far as I can tell. All I can say is WELCOME my friends, you belong here. I can't wait to see what the future holds for them. I found it rather annoying that I could only find Jacob's name because he's the lead singer and founder of the band. And I remember he introduced the band that night, because that is how I learned April's (keyboard) name. But I        unfortunately couldn't find the bassist or drummers names my apologies. As they spring onto the scene we'll likely hear more about them. But they are so new they are still touring in a van. One that frequently breaks down. And Jacob actually cracked a joke that no one knew who they were. It was the truth. No one did know--but now we can't forget them.

The one I had the most difficult time getting a picture of was April. She was so fluid and all over the stage and constantly vibing to the music that my camera just could not keep up. After their last song on the set list which I believe was a song called Scatterbrain, they left the stage, and I was a little confused. Jacob had said their names and the name of the band, but the logo was so confusing I really just didn't know what the fuck to call them.

Thank god my husband was paying attention and isn't deaf, and wasn't drinking because he had caught their name. And that is how I was able to find them later on Spotify. I recommend. Check them out, it's a good time. Definitely different from Andy's BVB vibe, so don't go in expecting to hear something like that. But it's pretty darn close to Andy's newer vibe for The Ghost of Ohio, and I dig it completely. It's always so exciting when you find a band that you really fucking love through a band or solo artist that you already love. I have done that so many times now in my life. That is how I have come to find half the bands I love--AT LEAST. If you give a mean show, I will ALWAYS come back for more. ALWAYS.

After Kulick left the stage, tons of lesbians openly lamented, and that was fine too. Actually kind of amusing because I don't even know where these people have heard of this band before. Never mind who their cute little keyboardist is. That's impressive.

Next up? The Faim. I really tried to take some pictures of these boys because they were fuckin rockin'! But because they were so rockin, my camera couldn't keep up much. Josh Raven has the same stage energy as Ronnie Radke and it's endearing. By that I mean he bounces all over the fucking venue, and he really puts on a show. I didn't know much about these boys going in. Honestly, I had heard a few songs in my spare time because a friend of mine had suggested that I hear their music. Then I got wrapped up in life and forgot to go back to it because the songs I heard weren't for me. But man do they tear it up and some of their songs? really fucking hit the spot.

So their set list is as follows please feel free to correct me if I am wrong:

Saints of the Sinners

My Heart needs to breath

Beautiful Drama (unreleased)

When it Comes

Infamous

A Million Stars

Midland line

Fire

I can Feel You

Amelie

Make Believe

Summer is a curse

Before I get into their performance I want to tell you a little about them. The Faim is a band consisting of four members; Josh Raven (singer), Stephen Beerkens (keyboards/bass), Samuel Tye (guitar), and Linden Marrisen (drums). They are from Perth, Australia which was a little shocking to me because Josh sounds very British but then I just remind myself that Australia is a melting pot of sorts so the accents are similar and move on. The Faim had started out with two OTHER members but I honestly didn't know of them or hear them back then, so I'm basing my opinion and such on what I've seen solely. This band fucking rocks. Check them out. It'll be worth it I swear.

I tried to snag a few pictures of them because they were cool and I knew someone who would really appreciate the gesture. BUT unfortunately they were all over that fucking stage--everyone one of them. Except the drummer he was stationary, but he was fucking MOVING man. Just like the rest of them. Josh was both in and out of the crowd several times and all over that stage. He almost grabbed my daughters hand, but she wasn't paying attention lol so he just waved instead. Steven put off all the fucking vibes while they were playing he was REALLY digging on the music, he worked hard with TWO different instruments, and he sang along. You really can't get more dedicated than that, so hats off to him. Samuel had a beautiful guitar and some guitar skills to match. I truly enjoyed watching him bounce and rock out with Stephen on the bass. Linden was in the back the entire time, but he was slamming away on those drums and CARRYING that show. It was fantastic.

About halfway through Infamous there was a fight in the second and third row. I will not call it a 'pit' because ladies and gentleman, there was no pit. I have to say it. I said it there, there was no pit. I said it again. Now that I've said it let that sink in a second. Now I'll continue...a small girl (about 5 feet tall) was in the front row for the Andy Black street team. She was kind and wonderful, and so excited to see Andy perform. A woman and man half her height came bopping into the front all violently, mind you---there was NO pit. I stated that previously. Well, I don't know the proper logistics but a fight broke out and this tiny girl (as well as a woman in a wheelchair) were being properly pushed by the bimbo who came bopping into the row. The Security at the Gothic didn't do shit. So Josh had to stop the song and break up the fight HIMSELF. Begging and pleading with them to cut it out and have a good time because we are all there for music and a show. Then he proceeded to DRAG security out to the problem to address the situation--BY THEIR SHIRTS because people are fucking ridiculous and can't behave. Finally the idiot who started everything was taken from the crowd but a few of the girls that remained were still crying. Which wasn't cool. I hope the entire show wasn't ruined for them because of this. Because that was nonsense and it sure made me feel good about the decision I made to sit up in the balcony for the show. For Mooshes sake.

Anyway, after that the show resumed and they carried out the rest of their set which was pretty rockin. I am willing to dive in and give them an actual chance as a fan, because they gave such a great show. They were compassionate and caring, and they were great performers. My god I could feel the energy rushing off their bodies and instruments, and I was completely blown away.

You can tell they really live for what they do, and those are the best types of musicians--because they give the best show hands down every night. Sure maybe not everything is on point the way they would like it to be, but the crowd is too fucking rocked to notice any of that, only the musician tends to notice. After all, we are our own biggest critics.

After The Faim's performance everyone came out and cleared most of the stage which we found kind of endearing. It was a small stage and Andy has a big body that, even though he just had his appendix removed, he was still all over the stage for the show. They taped the setlist to the stage and wrote the name of the state on the bottom which had my husband and I laughing a little, but I suppose you can't remember every state you're in on tour. Especially if you're a musician who travels Internationally like he is.

His setlist was pretty consistent with the other shows he's been playing but just in case you haven't had a peek, it's here, but it's definitely not in order:

  1. Play Video
  2. Ribcage
  3. They Don't Need to Understand
  4. Westwood Road
  5. Stay Alive
  6. Broken Pieces
  7. Beyond My Reach
  8. Beautiful Pain
  9. Louder Than Your Love
  10. Paint It Black
  11. Ghost of Ohio
  12. Sadie (A Alkaline Trio Cover)
  13. Put the Gun Down
  14. Homecoming King
  15. We Don't Have to Dance
  16. Play Vide

As usual we had a good time with Andy; he knew how to work the crowd and when he spoke he was hilarious or very genuine. He thanked us for accepting him for who he is, and allowing him to live the life he always dreamed of. He showed us a slide show of family movies while he covered Sadie by Alkaline Trio and then told us what that song as a whole meant to him which was very touching. My daughter really loved seeing Andy as a little (young) boy, because she is only eight years old and she loves him so much--I think it sort of puts him on her level a bit. We are all outcasts and we flock to Andy for various reasons but he is the most real and genuine person, it is hard not to love him. I have met normal people who are not as grounded as this man is, and it's truly something to think about. He surrounds himself in those kind of people too, and that is a good trait to have. Leader of the outcasts must be a nice job title.

All-in-all we had a pretty fucking wonderful time (as usual duh!) getting to know Andy's backup band (LONNIE MAN YOU ARE REALLLY FUCKING GOOD) and singing along to some of our absolutely favorite songs, was worth the money spent and the walk over. It was worth the day off and the smiles gained. Every second we spent at this show, was a good time. My husband, my daughter and I cannot wait for the next Andy Black show (whenever that may be) because it was a lot of fun. Til then? I suppose we have Juliet's concert to look forward to in July! It will be so awesome to FINALLY see his other half playing and singing. I love her voice, her attitude, and her expressive soul. She is wonderful, can't wait.

I know it's been a while since my last post so I wanted this one to be a substantial one--thanks for baring with me through the read. Thanks for all of your support as well. Look forward to my next post which will likely include photos and footage of my next concert, or maybe gaming, or MAYBE local legends and ghost stories. Do you know? You don't! so you'll have to stay tuned to find out! xo

Blog #42: IAMX & ANDY BLACK APRIL

Andy Black - Ghost of Ohio

So April is almost upon us and man do I have a month ahead of me! We reserved three tickets months ago at the Gothic Theater here in Denver and we cannot express how excited we are to see Andy Black on tour doing his solo thing and doing it well. As more and more dates of more and more kickass artists compile on this spring/summer schedule I realize that my proclamation last year that this was going to be an EXCELLENT year for music is only looking like its coming into fruition with each passing month! I'll get more into depth with that in a moment, first I want to give a small life update.

Currently our lil family is settling graciously into our little hole of a home and we are making the best of what we have. I'm doing well at work so they don't have a problem giving me hours, and that makes me happy because my husband's job is dicking him around on hours, hard. They acted like they needed help very badly, but ever since he transferred over, he's only worked on day. That is worrisome but I'm doing my best to pick up what slack I can. I need to produce 300$ for my shit traffic ticket that I got on the way here before the time runs up (and I believe the date is sometime at the beginning of April for that) and I am only biweekly in pay and part time. So, I'm scrambling to figure out how I'm going to pay that off. I've got rent vastly approaching as well, but my Andy Black tickets are already secured.

April 17th is when I'm headed over to the Gothic with Raith and Moosh to catch Andy's solo tour.

I have been waiting for this for a long time and I am absolutely thrilled the more I hear the new music. Apparently for every pair of tickets you buy through the venue, you get a free copy of the cd. I'm souped to be getting that. It'll ship on release day, but of course I'm going to hear that shit before it reaches my fingertips because I'm obsessed like that. Andy's music is awesome and makes me smile and I love how he story-builds.

Anyway, some of the more wonderful things that have been happening in my life? I have insurance now! I cannot express how much of a relief that is. Not only that? But for the first time in many, many years if not ever--I feel like I am meeting people that are like-minded who are willing to accept me for who I am. It makes me feel like a weight has been lifted off my chest and I cannot express how much I appreciate every one of you that have touched my life. I am physically meeting the most beautiful people and it is SO strange (surreal?) to be able to just relax around someone. Wow. I love you.

Speaking of GOOD music, GOOD vibes, and GREAT people--I am going to see IAMX on April 29th. Just after seeing Andy at the Gothic I intend on heading over with my girls to the Bluebird theater to see Chris Corner ie IAMX play live for the first time. Gosh I have loved his music for years thanks to a friend of mine who introduced him to me. From Sneaker Pimps to IAMX I am completely addicted to the vibes he throws. I can't wait to see him doing his thing live.

Both Chris and Andy are great at telling stories; stories of overcoming defeat and feeling hopeless. Stories of discovery and acceptance of self.  They have powerful lyrics and both are extremely opposite ends of the musical spectrum but for years they have BOTH (among many others) have made me extremely happy. For that I am extremely grateful on many levels. I can't wait for April. I want to buy at least a little bit of merch while I'm there but we'll see what I can afford. The experience is something I can keep with me forever regardless. I am so SO excited to see them. Palaye Royale are due to arrive here in May in Colorado Springs but I have yet to work out logistics or details to see if I can attend that venue just yet and it's sometime a way. So only time will tell. Is anyone else planning on attending any really rad fucking shows this coming month??? Let me know in the comments!'

On top of that stuff I mean I've been posting more vlog and gaming videos and only plan on doing more of that as I go. More money comes in means more equipment upgrades and then I can think about finally streaming on Twitch! Another exciting new thing I managed to put out is my new FOOD BLOG. I plan on getting a new camera soon, so that means better pictures but the recipes are GRADE A and 100% recipes me and my family use on a monthly (if not more) basis (we like variety). I don't know what the schedule for the food blog will be just yet, I'm going to see at the end of the week how good of a response she gets and go from there. I do know that I have been writing 5 recipes every monday for a couple of weeks now, and by the end of the year the recipes will be in a book that I plan on looking into publishing after I have it for real edited. Some of those recipes will be selected for my blog, so, check em out! Like photography? Check out my new Shutterstock Portfolio!

I appreciate all the support I get, and I love you all, catch ya on the social medias. ;)
PS I posted this video ^^ because I got a request for it after I posted a gif lol! Enjoy!

Blog Post #41: Meet My Buddy Blaine the Pain and Join the Hype!

This is my buddy Blaine the Pain he's many things; a friend, a full-time hardworking father of four little ones, a husband, a gamer, a streamer, a brand critic, a creator, and an all around outstanding person. Is this a shameless plug for a good friend? Absolutely, but hear me out....because it'll be worth the time.

Born in Fall River, Massachusetts and based out of the smallest state in our nation (United States)--'Lil Rhodie, where I'm from, Blaine has big plans and an even bigger heart to spare!

Personally what would you get out of the experience if you were to join the hype train and check out Blaine's rapidly building gaming network? Well for starters, the experience. He has a wide range of content from family friendly gaming fortnite adventures on Twitchtv with his kids, to lone gameplay that's a little more adult rated content, to reviews of content (games mostly, but also tech equipment he uses, and PC gear as well!) from games that haven't hit the market yet. Not only does he share these reviews, and his gameplay, but he streams his real life on Twitch as well so personally--I've got so much respect for this hard-working ace gamer that I just had to share.

Let's talk long term and short term goals for Blaine the pain and his brand community HypeSpeed. Personally Blaine's long-term goals are to become an affiliate on Twitch and to make money doing something he is passionate about through a wide-range audience, so that he is allowed to spend more time creating, supporting/spending time at home with his beautiful family.

Short-term plans for his brand HypeSpeed is to provide a safe haven for a community of gamers to come together for friends or advice on how to improve on creating and pushing gaming/streaming content, and to perhaps gather some sponsorship along the way to make this possible. Now, how about the long-term? Long-term plans are to gather a network of gamers together, in a completely relaxed nondiscriminatory environment (Come one, come all regardless of Age, Race, Gender, Sexual Orientation, Religion, Nationality, Disability, Body Art, Or the fact that you just cannot be quiet! Welcome.) where everyone is expected to learn, have fun, and grow together. End goal for HypeSpeed is to have a physical community center where creators and gamers alike, within the community, could come and gather together. There would be provided gaming stations, gaming events, and a cafe/lounge area for your convenience.

Sounds like Blaine is the man with the plan, I don't know, but I would really like to see this happen for him. He's an all around positive and pleasant guy, he works hard, and he is pretty fricken enjoyable to watch when he streams! I think you should stop by the provided links below--and check him out for yourselves! Tell me what you think when ya do! Oh, and don't do so without telling him Danii Grimm sent ya his way! ;) Us Rowdy Rhodies gotta stick together. Birds of a feather they say!

This week's review #blog was a good time to write! If you liked this kind of friendly review on one of my skillful friends, let me know! I'll interview more of them, and pass them on to you! I have a plethora of professionals to pick from, so really--I could go on forever with it! If it gets a decent amount of viewage this week then I might think of opening a separate #blog for creators I know! It would be worth the time and effort to do something so wonderful for people who not only deserve it, but to do it for people I actually know would be even better. Let me know what you think! Blog Post #40: On A Rocky Mountain High

Over the Mountains and through the woods...

So for the passed almost decade I have lived in Arizona with my family. My husband and father to my only child, and our child have never lived anywhere BUT that state--I hail from a small state called Rhode Island but it has been a MINUTE since I have had to up and move from some familiar settings. And Admittedly, I like stability. I knew that we could do it, we had no emotional ties to this state other than the memories we have already made...but between my pictures and my memory, those will never die. So unto new and better things. It was just nerve wrecking getting here. LOL. But that is for you to watch/hear about in the video over on Youtube. We made it. We set out to move and we made it, with very little getting in our way. The universe heard our cries, and we worked together to achieve our goals.

This week's corresponding vlog is just as long as you would expect it to be. We had so much footage and ground to cover that we ended up with about 30 mins of cut footage. But man do my patrons have some nice things coming. ;) Also, now that I'm settled I plan on filming at least one thing every day. So please feel free to follow me and my family on our adventure. Enjoy! We had a blast making this! More good things coming soon too! Good things come to those who wait, and patience is most certainly a virtue.

Now let's begin the next chapter shall we!? When we arrived here in Colorado we met with our new Landlord who we'll call Barry. Barry, was very cool. Even though his shit ass company rented the house we wanted right out from under our noses, it really worked out that we rented this place for six months. We have six months to get a good grip on our area, and maybe to get into the front unit of the house we are in. It's a bigger unit, and we have our eye on it. PLUS! we are now local and renting through Barry's company, so there's no reason they should rent out something from under our noses. And Barry has been super reasonable about settling and paying a decent price for this place. Boy is Denver expensive to live in. LOL but we knew that before we came.

I'll post a video later this week of a tour around my place, and how I've got it set up. It's a little small and chaotic but there are only three of us walking around really. Stubblez just chills in one general area and Mr Fluffincute is mostly in his cage unless he's rolling around in his ball. He's got a good path to do that along so we're happy, for now. And the future only promises good things for us. I can't wait.

That being said, I love the area. We have a really cool dispensary nearby with great deals! We have a library right nearby with a wonderful selection and we go almost every day. We have a giant fucking park nearby. We are just fucking feet from a trail, one that I actually take to work. There is a cemetery right in front of our house and you know what? Everything we need (laundry, groceries, etc) is ALL right nearby. I love it here. The crime is very low here. The homeless problem is basically nonexistent and the area is pretty fucking clean. I'm pretty satisfied. Especially because our utilities are included in rent, now if only we can get a better internet situation set up...but soon enough!

My husband starts his job tomorrow morning bright and early, and I started mine last night. I did fabulous according to my coworkers and I was very nervous. So I'm glad it didn't show too much. I made a few mistakes but it wasn't too bad, and I wasn't expected to do stocking just work/learn/run the register and the lottery. It's all a lot of muscle memory, so I seem to almost got it down. Maybe my training period won't be all that long, then again--no way to tell as I was only there for four hours. I go in again Tuesday and Wednesday and I'm actually looking forward to learning more. I think I can really excel here. AND with all my online plans this year, I really think that my family may have a chance to flourish here.

We've got the flu or a cold in this household: the scratchy throat, the fever, the soreness etc. But the one that it seems to be hitting the hardest is little moosh. Not too bad though, because we've got her some Tylenol and she seems to be making a quick recovery. My house is clean. My lungs have air. I'm not too sick and no one is fucking with me. Life, for the moment,  is fucking good. Thank you Universe. We have been trying to pay it forward ourselves as well. Just today, we had found a US BANK card on the ground over in a plaza by a Home Depot, well--we picked it up and tried to return it to the bank but it was closed so we called them and told them we found it. They deactivated the card and thanked us. It felt good. Imagine how shitty it would feel to have lost your bank card, and have a shitload of charges run up? Damn, that would really suck. I have had something similar happen to me when I was young, it felt so horrible. I couldn't imagine doing anything else with the thing. We took it home and cut it up. Your welcome Philip, wherever you are out there. It was my pleasure.

Okay well, for now my internet is really shitty so I can't stream but my patrons and my youtube friends can expect a lot of videos coming. Maybe even some of my twitter peeps will see me. The goal is to get my ass more comfortable in front of the camera this year, so that when I get in front of people Im not so incredibly awkward. When I get a new phone, I'm going to be setting up a premium cosplay snapchat and a depop for extra income. So keep an eye out for that. I'm also pretty handy with crafts so I'll be opening up my Etsy account as soon as I have a good stock of supplies. I'm going to be doing a vegan based food blog this year, it wont be every week like this blog but its going to be fun to figure out. Tomorrow I may post one up by the end of the day to get things going so you get a feel of what's going on but reader beware--I have an allergy to tomatoes. So no one will find tomatoes in my recipes unless its in the stewed or pasted form, and even then I TRY to avoid it more often than not. Well, wow. A lot of plans this year and such a full schedule! But I can't wait!

Shout out to all my sisters out there having a rough time today. Something is going on out there that's making things sour and usually, things like this come in threes for me. It happened again that way today. I lit my candles, some are STILL lit, and I've been happily vibing all day. Girls, I fuckin got you. You are strong, and life is hard. I know it, you know it, and the universe knows it. So it's testing you. But you'll bounce back. We always do. <3 and="" chin="" fight="" hand="" my="" nbsp="" on.="" p="" take="" up.="">

Music Interview with Metal Band BE//GOTTEN

Life has gotten in the way for everyone and I'm just going to leave it at that because I'm pretty sure no matter where you are in...
